Caregiver Mental Health Support

At Gryzbek Therapy Services we aim to help those who care for others care for themselves. Being a caregiver is no easy task and sometimes it can take a lot of the caregivers time, energy, and effort. Caregivers also need support and self-care so they don’t get overwhelmed or burnt out. Taking time for yourself is so important, and we are here for you.


Who Can We Support

We can support a variety of caregivers including the following: 


  • Caregivers of the elderly
  • Caregivers of children
  • Caregivers of family members or friends (e.g., parents, children, aunts/uncles, grandparents, etc.)
  • Caregivers of those with special needs 
  • Part-time/full-time caregivers
  • Live-in/shift caregivers
  • Paid/unpaid caregivers
  • Professional/unprofessional caregivers


Our Approach to Caregiver Mental Health 

We utilize different therapeutic approaches to help aid our caregivers because there is not one size fits all approach. Some of which are as follows:


  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) which can help with managing stress and learning healthy coping mechanisms.
  • Mindfulness techniques can also help reduce stress and anxiety, improve cognition, and help with identifying and managing emotions.
  • Psychoeducation to help educate caregivers on how to better care and provide community resources.
  • Some other modalities we utilize include: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, Emotionally-Focused Therapy, Strength-based, etc.


Benefits of Mental Health Support for Caregivers

Getting support when needed is helpful in general. For caregivers it is especially important so they can avoid burnout. Sometimes caregivers may get busy and put their own needs on the back burner. Support is important to caregivers so they can not only care better for their person,  for themselves, and also so they don’t feel alone.
