My name is Sarah Petzold, and I am a licensed therapist at Gryzbek Therapy Services. My main priority in therapy is creating a safe, non-judgmental environment through empathy, warmth, and unconditional support. I practice from an integrative approach and pull from various evidence-based modalities to create a client-centered treatment plan. Some of these modalities include: Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT).
Outside of therapy, I am passionate about sports. Growing up, I competed in everything from dance, gymnastics, volleyball, basketball, and softball. Softball quickly became my greatest love, and I developed a passion for the outfield. During college, I played D1 softball at the University at Albany in New York. Now, I continue my passion for sports by competing in various rec softball leagues throughout the area and enjoying Cubs games. Go Cubs Go!
Another passion of mine is writing. Growing up, I loved writing stories and expressing my creative side. During my freshman year of college, I engaged in a creative writing class, which helped to inspire my love for writing and kickstart my journey. Now, I have written six full-length novels in hopes of becoming traditionally published someday. My sweet spot in terms of age category and genre has been young adult contemporary novels, where I often incorporate elements of athletics and mental health concerns among teens.
Beyond these passions, I enjoy reading, binge-watching crime shows (Law and Order: SVU will always have my heart), going on runs, baking, spending time with friends and family, and traveling. I am recently engaged, so my fiancé and I have been spending a majority of our time wedding planning, but generally, we enjoy competing against one another in our softball games, attending church and studying God’s word together, and exploring different areas and forest preserves. We’re greatly looking forward to the warm weather, so we can get outside, enjoy the sunshine, and be active again.
